Yo Yos and Fabrics

I’m really glad I’m not participating in Judy’s Stash Busting exercise, as I’d be high into the negatives this week.

Here are the pretty fabrics I needed to complete projects for Spring Market, that I’ll be attending as an exhibitor. You’ll have to wait until May to see the finished pieces .. I want it to be a surprise for those that come visit my booth.

A couple of weeks ago I came across a Twitter friend, YoYoCottage With a username like that I figured she must know a thing or two about yo yos. So, I browsed around Donna’s Etsy store, admiring all the pretty yo yos. I just had to have some. So, I ordered 200, 1.5″ yo yos for the special projects above.

This saves me a huge amount of time making them myself. Thanks Donna, I’m thrilled with what you sent me. The fabric they are sitting on is what will be used for the background.

I’ve been making yo-yos out of Christmas fabric to decorate a wreath. (Getting a head start!) Love the Clover yo-yo makers. But this looks a lot quicker!

Wow that is a lot of Yo-Yo’s. Can’t wait to see what you do with them.

I was never a big fan of yo-yos until I saw them used as eyes on a fish purse,on top of a flower pin cushion and on a dresden plate quilt. I have since bought all the sizes of the yo-yo makers and recently finished a dresden plate quilt with yo-yos in the center of each plate. It’s a great method to make yo-yos with consistent results each time.
