My favorite quilt from 2012 is my first log cabin (it’s still a UFO) which I intend to finish once I’m done unpacking from our move into our new home.

Thanks for sharing all the beautiful quilts this week! My favorite quilt of 2012 was my scrappy wonky log cabin quilt, made entirely from a tub of strip scraps I had saved. It’s king sized and is on my bed now. Thanks for the giveaway too! :0)
These are gorgeous! I think this is the hardest time I’ve ever had choosing which to vote for.
My favorite quilt is a black/orange/yellow OBW I did. I was showing my 96-yo grandmother my quilts and she pick this same one out as her favorite and wanted to “buy” it for her bed —– Grandma got the quilt as a Christmas present 🙂
My favorite quilt is one that my mom started when I was expecting my daughter. She never finished it, forgot about it. Then when my daughter was expecting my grandbaby, mom gave me the flimsy to finish. Well I took it apart and added 30’s reproductions her hand embroidered blocks, enlarging the entire quilt big enough for her bed. Its a cherished combined effort that took 21 yrs to complete.
I am in a doll quilt swap group and each month I have a new ‘favorite’ that was made during 2012.
My favorite quilt for 2012 was one I made for a challenge that I call my Freedom Quilt…
My favorite quilt for 2012 is one I made for my son and his wife for Christmas. He said she loved the colors of a peacock, so I searched for just the right colors. It turned out beautiful and they both loved it!
This may sound silly, but my favorite quilt of 2012 is not the prettiest quilt….it’s the most functional. It is a king size denim rag quilt that I made. My husband and I love it. It is the perfect weight….not to heavy, not to light and it is used every night.
I just discovered quilting in 2012 and my first projects were doll quilts for my daughter and her friends. Now that I’ve got the bug I can’t wait to start on some projects that will cover an actual human! I’m working on one now that is sure to be a favorite for 2013.
My favourite quilt in on a guest bed. It is done in solids, and all my favourite colours! I called it Off The Grid.
My Bonnie Hunter, Orca Bay was my favorite from the many I made in 2012. It took a lot of time as I put it together wrong way two times. However my friendly ripper helped me out and when I finally decided who would get it I kept at it and finished it just in time for Christmas.
My favorite quilt that I made in 2012 is a 9-patch variation. It is made from my daddy’s shirts. His life was lost to cancer on Black Friday, 2010. I am making all of his grandchildren a “Grandaddy Shirt Quilt.” Four down, five to go. The 9-patch variation is navy blue, blue plaid, and white, given to my youngest daughter.
My fave quilt for 2012 is the one I entered – My Friendship Quilt – I love that it has come together using blocks from many different locations – places I would like to visit one day – USA, Canada, UK. Maybe I should rename it my “One Day” quilt 😉
I made my daughter a rag quilt for Christmas. She loves soft things so I made it out of flannel with a design on the front and back. She loves it!

My favorite quilt from 2012 is still a flimsy (a condition I plan to rectify in 2013). It’s all polka dots, with cake stand blocks.
My favorite quilt from 2012 is one that I finished on Christmas Eve. I made my son a “hungry Caterpilar” wall hanging. His first ever quilt that I hope he’ll pass on to his kids. I’m pretty proud of it.
Thanks for this topic. It was nice to look back at projects and hear with others made.
My favorite 2012 quilt is still just a top. It is a top I made at a quilt retreat and it is made with bright and cheerful fabrics. I call this top my Happy Quilt.
Wow, they are all so nice, it’s hard to pick! (But vote, I did.) I like this new format – the pictures come out larger.
Wow, it is so hard to pick. I love reading the stories about each quilt. Out of this group, I love the Clan McAlpin because it is so different!
My favorite quilt is the one I made for my mom about 25 years ago. I now own this quilt and use it in my spare room.
Well, I’ve only made one *real* quilt, and it is my absolute favorite – it’s teal & purple & the back is pieced with the scraps & some seahorse fabric that I fell in love with. Both hubby & the puppy fight me for snuggle time under it. Best thing is when we’re ALL snuggled under it!
My favorite quilt for 2012 is up here for the show and tell. It is my favorite quilt for 2012, because i tried to come out off my comfort zone to make this masterpiece.
My lifetime favorite quilt is yet to come..
My favourite is my first quilt, in different shades of blue, turqouise and green! Simple patchwork, bit a queensize and I love it!
my favourite is an lap quilt I made using Echino fabric and perle cotton to hand quilt.
It is hard decide, because I have loved them all and they have been made for special people. But my favourite was the Country Wreaths. 2 1/2″ green and red squares,(scraps from the stash) set on white, with a delicious cranberries fabric for the large blocks. The quilt was very country looking and was perfect for decorating for Christmas. Loved it!
My favorite quilt of 2012 was a twin size reversible quilt that I made using lots and lots of blue fabrics on one side and browns, pinks, and golds on the other side.
my favorite was my sky horses quilt…long time in the making…but i love it
My favorite quilt completed in 2012 is queen size quilt I made for a family shelter that my sister works at. They are raffleing it off as a fundraiser.
First of all…they were all wonderful! So much work and love went into all of them. But what stand out to me was the colors on the circus tent. We are having a sunless day here in NH, and the colors just pop out at me. Seeing that just just made me smile. Good job!
I made several quilts this year and all but one were for gifts. One of my favorites was a quilt I made for a former teaching friend who retired. I traced her students hands and appliqued them on like flowers and made a special center block. I guess my favorite quilts were 4 matching “memory” quilts I made for my 2 sisters, my brother, and myself from my mother’s clothing.
My favorite was the one I finished for the young friend of a friend’s son. The young man had just finished his chemotherapy. I used novelty fabrics of his favorite activities mixed with solids in a twenty block 16-patch quilt. I hope he enjoyed it!
Wow there are so many lovely ones!! I like the new concept for the weekly contests – looking forward to next week now 🙂 Thanks for the chance to win!
My favorite quilt from 2012 is the first one I made in our “new” house, using only fabrics from my stash, which I became reacquainted with because of packing and unpacking it all! It’s bright and satisfying. Thanks for the drawing.
My favorite quilt is one I made this holiday season. I am a “crazy quilter” but always liked the “traditional” quilt called a Pioneers Braid. A call came out for quilts for the Hurricane Sandy victims. I got busy and made a scrappy Pioneer braid. I had troubles with it but persevered and ended up finishing it and sending it off to Timeless Treasures in hopes that someone will love my quilt and all the diff fabrics in it. Making this quilt made me extremely happy as it was sent as a hug to someone who needed it and that I can do “traditional” quilting.
I’m glad you gave us 4 votes, because it was hard to narrow down to one!!
My favorite for 2012 is a scrappy 30’s quilt made from squares collected in 1999 for a 30’s millenium quilt that never got made. This turned out better anyway!
My favorite quilt is one I received as a gift. When I was diagnosed with breast cancer and was facing a double mastectomy, my quilting guild gathered together and made me a gorgeous comfort quilt. The thought of all those women working together to surprise me with that stunning gift, brings tears to my eyes. That quilt was in my hands just weeks after my diagnosis. I am healthy today, but I continue to enjoy the hugs of 175 women through my comfort quilt.
Oh my, I worked on a bunch of quilts, but I didn’t finish any this year. I’ll have to do better next year. My favorite quilt that I’m working on is the Votes for Women by Barbara Brackman. This week there were so many wonderful quilts. It was really difficult to pick 4!!
My favorite quilt is one that’s just a top that I discovered in a paper bag in my parents’ attic. It’s Pepto pink and stamped embroidered squares, but my grandmother did them and pieced the top. I have it in my Amish quilt case, but I need to have it finished by one of the local church groups.
My favorite quilt was the one I submitted ‘Amazing Technicolor Dream Quilt’. I was really happy with a couple of them that I made in 2012 though – Home Sweet Home, Christmas in July Block-a-thon, and my Celebration quilt. I gave my friend the Celebration quilt and she FREAKED out – it was perfect!
My favorite quilt last year was Bernstein Bears based on a maze-like pattern from Moda Bakeshop. It was for a friend’s little boy.
My favorite quilt, I made for my Father In Law. I designed it myself and it came out just the way I wanted it too!
My favorite quilt from 2012 is Space Dust, a Tula Pink pattern and made from her fabric. While it is still in the quilt top stage, I just love how it turned out! Thanks!
That was very difficult to vote for just four of those gorgeous quilts but I did it! One of the four really stood out in my book………. “Soft Place to Fall” and I loved “Sylvia’s Bridal Sampler”. One of the days/years I’m going to make my own Sylvia’s Bridal Sampler. 🙂
I made about 12 quilts last year…maybe more! My favorite was a marines military prayer quilt. Right now it lives with a marines mom who prays over it daily. Not sure where it will end up.
I make a lot of quilts…most for giveaways. Would love to win more fabric! 🙂
My favorite was a quilt using Sarah Watts’ Feather n Stitch collection that I made for my niece’s wedding gift – she loved it and it was my first FMQ attempt.
My favourite quilt for 2012 was a 1930s Dresden Plate I made for my daughter’s 4oth. It took me nearly two years, and it was extra special because my 3 granddaughters helped with it, and for the labels, each drew a picture and a message for their mum, and I embroidered them. The three girls then argued over who the quillt would be beqeathed too!
My favorite wasn’t a quilt it was a snowmen table runner.
I think my favorite quilt I made in 2012 is my Falling Leaves table runner. I designed, made and quilted it all myself.
Every time I made a quilt it is my favorite at the time. Love them all. I have a star quilt I made and I would have to say it is the one I’m the most proud of at the time.
I like a lot of the quilts I made but one that was the most fun was the scrappy Streak of Lighning made with 2 alternating blocks. it was fun to piece and fun to play with the layout.
Two of my favorite quilts for 2012:
1) Eclipse (blocks won from the Block Lotto) these colors are very bright. I LOVE this quilt and use it on the couch the most.
2) Supernova — This was my first completed QA quilt. It was weird colors because I didn’t have a stash built up, but it has really grown on me and now I love the red/white, black/white with yellow background.
Thanks for asking!
I quilt each week with a group of six other women at a friend’s house. This year has been the year of the “Quilt from Hell” – a truly beautiful quilt that we have all done in our own color schemes. It combined star and log cabin blocks and we all had different levels of difficulty with them. BUT – each quilt has turned out wonderful and to each person’s surprise – the all love what they have done! What a learning experience it has been for all of us…Judy R from Buffalo
The favorite quilt I made this year was for a friend… a hand-painted, appliqued cherry blossom tree. 🙂

My favorite quilt was Slide Show done in all Kate Spain Terraine fabric. Wonderful pattern for showcasing all that beautiful fabric. Thanks for this wonderful opportuniity. Judy C
I love all the quilts but the Modern Flag is my all time favorite. Imagine following my husband throughout his USAF career and now being Retired hits close to home.
I made a quilt that I gave to my Auntie. It was made with strips of ‘made’ fabric’ and I quilted all our family member’s names on it to form that link between us.
I finished what I thought was a rather drab quilt done in greys, golds & blues – it was a designer’s sampler quilt-a-long. My sister-in-law quilted it as practice in a long arm class she was taking. Didn’t know what to do with it – then my older brother saw it & LOVED it & has been showing it to everyone he knows! So it became my 2012 “drab” success!
My favorite 2012 quilt is “Pink Snowdrops”, a small challenge quilt that started with a vintage embroidered snowdrop block.
Love all the quilts shown. My favourite is ‘A soft place to fall’ – just love the fact that it is all hand sewn.
My favorite quilt was a tee shirt quilt I did for a my friend’s son who graduated in 2012. I learned a lot of new techniques doing this quilt and had a lot of fun.

My favorite quilt of 2012 is a tumbler quilt I made from a jelly roll for my sister. Top was completed in 2010, finally got quilted and given to her for Christmas this past year. The look on her face when she opened it said it all.
My nephew gave me a Karen Stone book for Christmas 2011 and my husband gave me a bag of 60 assorted fat quarters. My challenge was to make a quilt using the fabrics. It turned out beautifully and has become my favorite!!

My most favorite and one I will always cherish is a prayer quilt my siblings and mother made for my Dad before he passed away in August.
What a wonderful bunch of fabulous 2012 favourites. I had several projects this year that are pretty high up there on my list, can’t pick just one.

This year I have lived vicariously, or virtually. No sewing this year…:(
My favorite quilt was the super scrappy hexagon quilt that had 3000 pieces all which were scraps from earlier quilts and projects. My daughter has a quilt I will cherish always because it was my very first quilt.
I´m not able to choose one favourite. There are so many amazing things… may be my most loved project was a quilt with a sort of Jacobs Ladder. Black background and scrappy batiks.
My favourite quilt would be my mini quilt swap as it was the first I’ve done. The one I received was completely hand sewn & quilted – very impressive. My favourite is “Scandinavian Christmas” by Lynette Anderson – 2 years in the making but well worth the wait 🙂
I have lots of WIPs to finish this year and new sewing will be done mainly from my stash. I want to only purchase batting as much as I can.
In 2012, I didn’t get to make any quilts, but I designed quite a few of them in my head.:) I hope 2013 will be better.
I did not do any quilting in 2012 but I just love looking at the cleverness of all the quilting bloggers!
My favorite finish for 2012 was the Sweet Skating Sew I made for the Quitng Gallery’s secret swap, using Jennifer Offenstein’s design. The receiver I got was so creative in her submission that I really pushed my limits too!
My favorite quilting project in2012 would have to be hubby’s Elvis inspired quilt using a pattern I bought on etat.
I didn’t get that much done this year as my father was so ill. I did finish a tiny sampler in oranges, his favourite colour. It was small and he could prop it up and look at it when he was laying on the sofa.
It is so hard to pick a favorite, but yes, I have them and will smile each day as I give each one a glance as I pass through each room where they hang.
My favorite quilt is a hand quilted little beauty that I finally finished after 3 years. It is red and white, lots of half square triangles, and some embroidery. I love it.
This may not be a quilt, but my favorite quilting in 2012 was a monthly table topper class. This taught me many new techniques and made me work on them, since the table topper was due the next month
I made a few quilts that are favorites this year. It’s so had to choose, but I love many of them! Maybe the snowflake one?
I didn’t make as many quilts this past year. I have a few favorites and wish I’d seen the theme for this week in time to enter. Thanks for the giveaway.
My favorite quilt would have to be a White on White Hand Quilted queen sized made by my Mother. Hand quilting is one of the things I still haven’t tried, but i know the time and experience required, so I appreciate it even more!!!!
I really enjoyed making Poppy, from the Fat Quarters book. Starting to make Retreat. Fun book full of easy to make beautiful designs.

I love the cupcakes quilt made by Mark Lipinski’s fans.
My favorite 2012 quilt was a scrap quilt that had cute barn animal panels between HST strips that I pieced. I made it for our church quilt ministry – it went to a foreign orphanage or the local pregnancy help center.
I enjoyed making a wall hanging of houses this year. I have yet to quilt it or get it quilted. I think I’ll practice a little longer, then, quilt it on my own.
My favorite quilt from last year was the one I made for my niece. I loved the straight line quilting. Have a picture of it on my phone and have to admit that I just stare at it sometimes!
Lovely entries.
My favorite from last year was the Twister quilt made in batiks for my cousin, Peg. Working in batiks and her colors was outside my box:)
