All My Scraps All My Scraps
By: Nancy K, Alberta, Canada

I found a wonderful pattern in a Jo Morton book for a wall quilt and decided to use up a bunch of scraps on it. The quilt is twice as large as the pattern and I made a small dent in my scrap pile.

American Jane Picnic Quilt American Jane Picnic Quilt

THis quilt was part of a “Brown Bag” scrap exchange challenge. Received fabrics from another person to combine with my own scraps. American Jane deserved a traditional block, so used the 9-patch and snowball to create the secondary pattern.

Art? Scrap? Art? Scrap?
By: Lindy, Washington, USA

I have a cloth ‘barrel’ that gets stuffed with all my project leftovers. I used the scraps to make string cloth (hardly made a dent!) which I then cut into wonky 6″ blocks, adding yellow squares for zing. When I posted a pic on FB a friend said “It’s Art!” Yep… I gave it to her!

Black holes Black holes
By: Turid Bakken, Norway

I love scrap quilts, and always have some in production. When I have some scraps, I sew them into rows or blocks instead of putting them in a box. When I have enough for a quilt, I find something to mix it and calm it down with. Fun!

Inch by inch Inch by inch
By: Julie Fukuda, Japan

Scraps from projects get cut into 4, 3, 2, and one inch blocks and stored in a tin by size. When I need blocks that size (or the tin gets too full) they find their way into projects. This quilt is full of conversation prints and lives on my old sofa for a quick cover or a game of “I-spy”.

This was my first scrappy quilt from leftover fabric stash of my mom’s, mine and my friend, Brandy that made handmade clothing for Dead shows. I think I used every color I had available. The only new fabric bought was the blue border fabric. It’s still one of my favorite quilts I’ve made.

By: Shout4Joy, Pennsylvania, USA

Most of the fabrics in this quilt are from Obnoxious Fabric Swaps that I host online. I wanted to find a way to use them that did not highlight how obnoxious some of these fabrics really are, so I cut them up small and used them in this traditional design. They cannot conquer tradition!
